On 7 November, a conference on the subject of “Bildung für nachhaltige Entwicklung” (BNE) (translation: “Education for sustainable development”) took place in the district government Düsseldorf. At the conference, ZIN-member Prof. Gabriele Schrüfer hosted a workshop titled “Didaktisch-methodische Hinweise zum Erwerb von Kompetenzen im Rahmen des Lernbereichs Globale Entwicklung” (in English: Didactic / methodological indications concerning the competence acquisition in the learning area global development“).

The conference, titled “Gemeinsam für BNE in Bildungslandschaften“ (in English: “Jointly advocating education for sustainable development in educational landscapes”) , was organised by the BNE Agency NRW, which coordinates education for sustainable development and provides expertise.
The conference focused on “activities for education for sustainable development in the educational landscape of the Düsseldorf administrative district” (source: conference flyer; own translation). Additionally, the conference attempted to answer the question: “How can schools, day-care centers and other educational institutions together with local authorities and the organizations and associations located there jointly develop the educational landscape for education for sustainable development while considering the special features in the region?” (source: conference flyer; own translation) The workshop of Prof. Schrüfer added valuable information on the acquisition of competence in the learning area of global development in the age group from 10 years onwards.
