SAS is a data analysis software from SAS Institute.  There are 45 single-user licences available, which can be purchased by University Münster institutions for official use. You will receive the license codes from the CIT after ordering.

  • Licence Information

    License Types
    The licences are rented including updates and support as part of a national licence. There are 45 single-user licences available, which can be purchased by University Münster institutions for official use.

    License Period
    University Münster's current SAS contract runs from 01.04.2026 to 31.03.2027. After reviewing the need and the financial ancillary conditions, the contract will be extended for one year at a time under the national licence.

    Software Version and Costs
    The current version of the SAS products is SAS_9.4_M8. A fee of 145,35 € per licence year is charged for the use of a SAS licence.

  • Purchase of Single User Licenses

    SAS licences can only be acquired by institutions of the University Münster or the UKM.

    UKM institutions can order SAS licences via the UKM's Central Purchasing division.

    All other EMU institutions order SAS licences from EMU IT against invoice. It is essential to specify the so-called Billing Object, otherwise the order cannot be processed.

  • Download, Installation & Licence Activation

    In the download area you will find the installation files for the different operating systems in a ZIP file. Supported are:

    • Microsoft Windows Workstation 64-bit
    • Microsoft Windows Server 64-bit
    • Linux 64-bit

    Download Section for SAS

    The ZIP file must first be unpacked after downloading. The installation can then be carried out.

    Please note that the corresponding data volumes are very large, approx. 32 GB in total. If you have a slow internet connection, it is therefore advantageous to copy the files to mobile data carriers on the university intranet, e.g. at the CIT advisory service.

    You will receive the licence files required during installation to activate the products when you purchase the single-user licence.
