Andre Dechert has been managing director of the Käte Hamburger Kolleg “Legal Unity and Pluralism” since its start in 2021. Previously, he was coordinator of the DFG Research Training Group “Trust and Communication in a Digitalized World.” As a science manager, his goal is to create optimal conditions for research at the Kolleg. He is also particularly committed to the sustainable transfer of the knowledge generated at the research training group to society.

Andre received his doctorate in modern and contemporary history from the University of Münster with a study on the changes of family values in the United States in the 1980s and early 1990s, using the example of the representations of fathers and families in TV sitcoms and the debates surrounding them. His dissertation was awarded the Young Scholar Prize by the Communication History Section of the DGPuK.
