German Society for Developmental Biology Awards 2026 Hilde Mangold Prize to Dr. Maik Bischoff

The German Society for Developmental Biology has awarded the 2026 Hilde Mangold Prize to Dr. Maik Bischoff (Institute of Integrative Cell Biology and Physiology) for his outstanding early-career achievements. Dr. Bischoff’s research has revealed molecular and cellular mechanisms driving the collective migration of Drosophila muscle cells, advancing our understanding of how mesenchymal tissues shape organ architecture. Dr. Bischoff combines molecular genetics, cell biology, and quantitative imaging in the fruit fly Drosophila. Named for pioneering German embryologist Hilde Mangold (1898-1924), the €5,000 prize honors exceptional young researchers in developmental biology.
