Plagiarism is theft and fraud that can result in losing everything you’ve been working on for a very long time. Yet, some succeed despite having plagiarised other people’s work. We may turn to plagiarism intentionally to save time as a deadline approaches. We may also do so unintentionally due to a lack of citation skills or difficulty distinguishing our own ideas from those of others. Many of us are afraid of plagiarism, and some see it where none exists. In this interactive session, we’ll clarify what is considered plagiarism and learn how to recognise it. We will also practise paraphrasing and discuss research-related scenarios involving the use of ChatGPT.
