As a partner university of elite sport, the University of Münster supports a total of 73 elite athletes, including twelve rugby players. Despite its status as a niche sport in Germany, rugby is one of the two most supported sports alongside futsal and football. One of the sponsored players is Noëlle Bouchette, who plays for both the NRW team and the Rugby Tourists and also studies biosciences at the University of Münster. Thanks to the "Partner University of Elite Sports" project, which is managed by Prof Bernd Strauß and Barbara Halberschmidt as university representatives and by Jan Müller and Tim Seulen from Münster University Sports, Noëlle can easily combine her studies and sport, for example by using the sports facilities for her training.
