Application for placement in a higher semester

Applicants who have already completed periods of study and passed relevant examinations in a previous degree programme that correspond to the curriculum of their desired BSc or MSc programme in psychology at the University of Münster can apply for placement at a higher semester.

If you obtain admission at a higher semester, please contact the Student Advisory Office at the Department of Psychology immediately. There, you will receive important information about the start of your studies (e.g. recognition of study and examination achievements, individual study plan, registration for courses in higher semesters etc.). Receiving a place at a higher semester does not guarantee that you will be able to complete your studies in the standard period of study.

Unfortunately, the probability of success when applying for placement at a higher semester is quite low, as study places must first become available – and this is very rarely the case.

Bachelor:

There will probably be no places available in the higher semester of the B.Sc. in Psychology in the coming summer semester 2024. If you would still like to apply for a higher semester for the summer semester 2024, you do not need a placement certificate, even if a placement is required in the application portal of the University of Münster.

Master:

You can find out whether enrolment at a higher semester is possible based on your previous study and examination achievements, and if so, in which one, by submitting a request form for placement at a higher semester. You should only submit a request if you have acquired at least 30 ECTS / 60 ECTS / 90 ECTS  in psychology for placement at the 2nd / 3rd / 4th semester, respectively.

Please complete, sign and send the form Application for Placement to fb7dekan@uni-muenster.de. Be sure to follow all instructions on the form. Questions regarding the Application for Placement can be answered by the Student Advisory Office at the Department of Psychology.

Your application for placement can take up to 14 days to be processed. You will not receive a confirmation of receipt. Only complete applications will be processed, i.e. the form must be completed in full, signed and all required documents listed therein must be attached to the application.

If your request is approved, you may apply for a place at the higher semester via the online application portal within the application deadlines. Therefore, be sure to submit your application for placement well in advance, i.e. at least 14 days before the application deadline!
