WELCOME TO THE DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MÜNSTER!

Orientation and familiarisation

(UPDATE 26 May 2026)

  • Bachelor’s students

At the beginning of the lecture period of each winter semester, two orientation weeks are held for new students. Classes begin on October 19.

The first orientation week (course selection week) takes place from October 5 to October 9. During this first orientation week, students must complete their seminar selection for the first semester. In addition, the Academic Advising Office for Psychology will provide important information regarding the organization of the degree program. All events will be offered exclusively online and will later be made available as recordings.

The second orientation week (student council week) takes place from October 12 to October 15. During this second orientation week, the Psychology Student Council offers new students an engaging and diverse program designed to facilitate social interaction and provide further orientation at the beginning of their studies. Almost all events will take place in person. All first-year students (“freshers”) will be supported throughout the week in small groups led by students from higher semesters. These tutors organize meetings and provide helpful advice to ease the transition into university life.

Further information will be provided over the course of the summer:

    • The website will then contain an overview of all orientation week events, including room information, schedules, and access links for digital content.
    • Access details for the WhatsApp group for first-year Psychology students will be distributed via email in September.
    • Instagram account of the Student Council – name: to be announced

We look forward to welcoming you!
