In addition to the positions offered below, excellent PhD students and postdocs can get funded through a PhD fellowship (e.g., from the German National Academic Foundation) or research fellowship (e.g., from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation), respectively. Positions for PhD students as research associates are sometimes available. Salary is according to TV-L E13 (50 %). A master degree or German diploma with grades far above average in physics or a related area as well as a good ability for teamwork and communication skills are expected. Knowledge in the areas “statistical physics”, “soft matter” and “active colloidal particles” is helpful. Furthermore, good programming abilities, experience in numerical simulations and interest in the development of theoretical models are advantageous. Depending on the successful applicant’s experience and interests, the work can have a focus on computer simulations and/or modeling.
