DNASTAR Lasergene 17.5 available for macOS

The new version 17.5 of DNASTAR Lasergene is now available for installation on Macs with Intel and M1 processors.

For installation please contact your IT administrator.

For use on personal devices ("HomeUse"), you can find the DNASTAR Lasergene Term Standalone license at Services > NWZ@Home > Software > DNASTAR.

Security issue with the new Microsoft Outlook version for macOS

When setting up IMAP accounts in the new Microsoft Outlook version for macOS, the "Synchronize with Microsoft Cloud" option is enabled by default.

The following versions are affected:

  • 16.42 (20101102) and newer for Current Channel.
  • 16.40 (20073000) and newer for Current Channel (Preview).
  • 16.32 (19110306) and newer for Beta Channel.
if they are set to "New Outlook" with the switch at the top right of the window.

As with the Microsoft Outlook app for Android and iOS, this option means redirecting credentials as well as content to the Microsoft Cloud. In addition to the data protection issues involved, sharing credentials in this way is prohibited by IT usage regulations.

The Exchange accounts at the university are currently not supported by the new Outlook version, so only the integration via IMAP is affected.

In addition, it is still unclear whether the feature is only turned on during an initial setup or is also adopted for already set up IMAP accounts when switching to the new version of Outlook.

If you have switched to the new Outlook and use IMAP, please check the setting and deactivate "Synchronize with Microsoft Cloud" if applicable.

ChemDraw Professional 22 available for Mac

The new version 22 of ChemDraw Professional is now available for installation on Macs.

For installation please contact your IT administrator.

01.12.2022: Adobe Acrobat 2017 end of life

We would like to take this opportunity to inform you about the end of life of Adobe Acrobat 2017 on December 1, 2022. Users of the application have already been receiving an information window when launching the application for a few weeks.

It is not possible to extend the license.

Adobe Acrobat DC is available for use as a successor product, but requires a Microsoft Azure ID. This must be activated individually in the IT portal. Information about this can be found on this web page.

If you have not yet received an updated version of Adobe Acrobat DC, please contact your administrator.

COMSOL Multiphysics 6.1 available for macOS

Version 6.1 of COMSOL Multiphysics, as well as some additional modules, is now available for use on macOS (Intel and M1):

Printing issues with HP printers on macOS Catalina 10.15.7

As of 23.10.2020, the HP printer driver framework no longer works on macOS Catalina 10.15.7.

The reason for this might be that HP has revoked the certificate used to sign drivers.

This affects a large number of (older) HP printers for which drivers have been provided via Apple Software Update.

The following update installs "newer" drivers from HP and restores the printing function. You might have to delete the printer from macOS and set it up again: hp-printer-essentials-S-5_14_8_4.pkg

Browser Settings for Using SAP

If you have problems using SAP, this is often due to missing browser settings or security settings in Java. Here you will find instructions for checking and correcting your settings.
