Prof. Dr Cornelia Denz studied physics at the TU Darmstadt where she also earned her doctorate and habilitation. After a brief professorship there from 2000 to 2001, she transferred to the Institute of Applied Physics at the University of Münster. From 2013 to 2016, she was chair of the department of experimental physics, and from 2016 to 2022, chair of experimental physics & gender studies in physics. She worked as the director of the Institute of Applied Physics for several years, and from 2010 to 2016, she has served as Vice-Rector for International Affairs and Young Researchers at the University of Münster. She has also been a member of the University Senate, the Teaching Council and has chaired the University Sports steering committee. In May 2022, she was appointed president of the National Metrology Institute of Germany in Braunschweig.

Cornelia Denz has been a member of the Board of Governors of the University of Münster since 18 May 2023.
