Spill the tea!

Hybrid sessions in German or English

Target group: Postdocs, doctoral researchers (in the final phase of their doctorate)

You’d be interested to know how excellent researchers have dealt with setbacks or whether former researchers regret choosing a different career path? Then drop in and share a cup of tea with us! This series of events reveals what is known in the educational sciences as a hidden curriculum: unwritten rules, unspoken expectations, unofficial standards, hidden messages and other pieces of implicit knowledge within and beyond academia.

The aim is to make this implicit knowledge accessible for all emerging researchers, as well as to break down reservations regarding taboo topics and help to demystify academia.

‘Spill the tea!’ meets …
For these spin-off events, researchers from the University of Münster are invited to take part in ‘Spill the tea!’-style sessions hosted by other universities across Germany. In these online events, former researchers from a range of disciplines share their experiences of continuing their career beyond academia. Specific requirements and registration details are provided in each event description.

Objectives:

  • Gain insights, in confidence, into experiences, recommendations, and examples of best and worst practice – delivered by advanced or established researchers on the topic in question
  • Contribute one’s own questions and discuss with experts
  • Take away stimuli and ideas for one’s own research or career paths

Requirements for online participation: Please note that keeping the camera on and providing your full name upon joining the Zoom room are prerequisites for attending the sessions. This contributes to an atmosphere of trust between panelists and participants.

  • Do, 28.01.2027, 12:00–13:30 / Spill the tea!
