English Grammar (not just) for Germans (B1/B2)

Zielgruppe: University staff who write and publish English texts (emails, website content etc). You should have a good working command of English but look to revise the formal aspects of the English language, especially differences between English and German.

Diese Veranstaltung richtet sich an Lernende der englischen Sprache. // This course is for learners of English.

We are going to revise some foundational structures of English grammar to help you avoid some common mistakes and misunderstandings. Our focus will be on differences between English and German, for example the continuous aspect, which German does not have, and the present perfect, which may look like the German Perfekt but is often used quite differently.

Inhalte im Überblick:

  • English past, present and future
  • Continuous and simple aspect (the -ing thing)
  • Present perfect, past tense and why German Perfekt doesn't help
  • Comma rules

Lernziele: Revision of foundational English grammar with an emphasis on writing clearly and correctly.

Methoden: All English courses and workshops follow a communicative language teaching approach, integrating content and language learning.
