Funding

GRASS offers its doctoral students first and foremost non-material support. This includes intensive supervision of the dissertation by two professors, the thematic bundling of dissertation projects in research focus areas and an individual study program. Unfortunately, GRASS is currently unable to offer financial support. However, doctoral students receive a workplace at the Institute of Sociology and can use the Institute's research infrastructure. There is also the opportunity to take on teaching assignments.

GRASS offers intensive support with applications for scholarships from the supervisors.

Apart from the usual semester fees (including semester ticket), no tuition fees are charged for doctoral studies at GRASS.

Supervision

Doctoral students at the Graduate School of Sociology Münster are supported and advised by a supervisory team consisting of two professors in carrying out their dissertation project and in their personal development.

In a written agreement - the doctoral agreement - supervisors and doctoral candidates make binding agreements about the supervisory relationship, the dissertation project and the coursework to be completed.

The following persons are currently responsible for the initial supervision:

Prof. Dr. Stefanie Ernst

Prof. Dr. Christel Gärtner

Prof. Dr. Matthias Grundmann

Prof. Dr. Dieter Hoffmeister

Prof. Dr. Ines Michalowski

Prof. Dr. Detlef Pollack

Prof. Dr. Joachim Renn

Prof. Dr. Levent Tezcan

Prof. Dr. Christoph Weischer

Second supervisors can also be professors from other institutes and departments at the University of Münster or other universities.
