Shanghai Ranking: University of Münster confirms strong position

The latest international university comparison has been published

In the “Academic Ranking of World Universities 2026”, also known as the Shanghai Ranking, the University of Münster has once again maintained a very strong position. Nationwide in Germany, it is ranked in the 6th to 11th tier. In the global comparison, it is ranked in the 151st to 200th tier, thereby confirming its successful position from previous years. Since 2003, the ranking has examined the research performance of over 2,500 higher education institutions worldwide each year. The top 1,000 universities are published.

Originally developed at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (China), the ranking has been published by the Shanghai Ranking Consultancy since 2009. Its clear focus is on scientific research. The assessment takes into account scientific publications and their citations, as well as particularly prestigious awards, including Nobel Prizes and Fields Medals.
