Online survey about the website of Münster University

The team of Web and Design and the CIT of Münster University are planning a relaunch of the website and invite all users to take part in the online survey

With over seven million visits in 2022 alone, Münster University's central website is an important information portal for users. One of the reasons for the Web and Design department and the Center for Information Technology (CIT) to continuously review and improve the website. An online survey marks the start of the planned relaunch of the website. All users have the chance to further improve the website with their feedback by December 6. The online survey is anonymous and can be answered in around ten minutes: https://uni.ms/web-poll

Staying relevant online - the background to the relaunch

"The system and design of the current website have been in use for several years. Viewing and usage habits, but also the needs of students, employees as well as scientists have changed," explains Rector Prof. Dr. Johannes Wessels. "The web relaunch is not an end in itself - with the relaunch we want to better serve these needs. We want the website to support the goals of Münster University in the best possible way." Previous studies, for example on the information behavior of prospective students, show that the website is used as a central information medium by 98 percent of respondents.

The online survey as a starting point

"In addition to employees of Münster University or external stakeholders, such as from the areas of Transfer or International Affairs, we are paying particular attention to the more than 40,000 students for whom we want to further improve the website," explains Hendrik Großekathöfer, project manager of the web relaunch. With the online survey, the Web and Design department wants to gather an initial, broad opinion. At the same time, individual qualitative interviews will be conducted to gather detailed information about the needs.
