Winner of the naming competition: “Kita am Schlossplatz”

The first day care centre at University of Münster has a name / Opening on 1 August

How to find a name for the university’s first day care centre (Kita)? Invite all employees to take part in a naming competition and choose from over 60 suggestions received. The result: the day care centre at the University of Münster, which is currently under construction, will be called “Kita am Schlossplatz”. The name appropriately picks up on the geographical location of the facility, which is scheduled to begin operations on 1 August at the start of the daycare year.

After the university and construction management celebrated the topping-out ceremony together with the craftsmen, the partners and the operator “educcare” in October last year, the new building is slowly turning into the home stretch. Located between Promenade and Lazarettstraße and directly behind the historic gatehouse from 1778, the day care centre will offer space for 70 to 75 children, divided into five groups. The majority of these places will be available to the children of university employees, with the remainder being public places. With this offer, for which “educcare” is still accepting applications for educators and pedagogical specialists, the University of Münster is sharpening its profile as a family-friendly employer. The day care centre is being built with the support of the City of Münster and the “Bau- und Liegenschaftsbetrieb” of North Rhine-Westphalia
