Student surveys

Student surveys are conducted periodically for various purposes at the University of Münster. In addition to the surveys listed below, centrally coordinated student surveys are also administered in multiple faculties.

  • Degree programme survey

    The program survey generates information on students’ academic progression, specifically with regard to a particular degree program. The central program survey is conducted every three years in order to obtain continuous results on academic progression within the program. The survey is carried out simultaneously for all degree programs.

    Currently, the program survey is undergoing a fundamental participatory revision. This includes both the questionnaire and the overall framework conditions, including a new communication strategy. The first program survey following this revision is expected to be conducted in the summer semester of 2028.

  • “The Student Survey in Germany” (SiD)

    “The Student Survey in Germany” (SiD) is a newly developed online survey which is conducted nationwide every four years. While university participation is voluntary, the universities in North Rhine-Westphalia have pledged to participate in the survey. The BMBF-funded survey is conducted by the German Centre for Higher Education Research and Science Studies (DZHW) in cooperation with the Higher Education Working Group of the University of Konstanz and the Deutsches Studentenwerk (DSW). The survey combines the former Social Survey (DZHW/DSW), the BEST Studies (DZHW/DSW) and the Student Survey (University of Konstanz) into one, whereby the survey frequency is reduced. Consequently, the survey addresses a broad thematic spectrum ranging from the students’ social and economic circumstances, health impairments, challenges and framework conditions of study to career prospects and societal values (for more, click here).

  • CHE Ranking: student survey

    Student surveys are conducted annually as part of the CHE Ranking. The participating departments are evaluated on an alternating basis every three years. For more information on the CHE Ranking, click here.
