ERC celebration

Armido Studer receives an ERC Advanced Grant by the European Research Council. After learning of his prestigious achievement, the Studer group came together in the coffee room and celebrated with prosecco, beer and pizza.

Graduation Ceremony

On Friday 26.02.2024 Florian Lind received his doctoral degree. Due to his outstanding performance in the doctoral thesis with the title “Design, Synthese und Anwendung neuartiger Acylsilane” he was also awarded with the Ellen-Baier-Award.

European Academy of Sciences

The European Academy of Sciences (EurASc) has accepted the chemist Prof. Dr. Armido Studer as a new member in recognition of his outstanding achievements in the field of organic synthesis.

Paracelsus Prize 2024

Prof. Armido Studer from the Institute of Organic Chemistry at the University of Münster receives the Paracelsus Prize of the Swiss Chemical Society. He is honoured for his work in the field of radical chemistry.

New protecting group

Florian Lind designed in his doctoral studies a silicon-based protecting group which can be selectively removed with blue light. Benzoyldiisopropylsilyl group can be easily installed on primary, secondary and tertiary alcohols by using the corresponding chloride. The study was published in Chemical Science and further highlighted in Chemistry World.

ICOC 2023

Prior to the ICOC 2023 in Goa, Armido reconnected with his former Indian coworker who now holds esteemed academic positions in various prestigious institutions in India. Together, they engaged in insightful scientific discussions in a Studer group mini-symposium.

Arthur C. Cope Scholars Award

Prof. Armido Studer is honored with the "Arthur C. Cope Late Career Scholars Award" for pioneering radical-based methodologies. With his work in the field of radical chemistry, Armido Studer has made a significant contribution to the renaissance of free radicals in organic synthesis and in polymer chemistry.

Chem Cup 2023

The Studer group entered this year's Chem Cup as the "Armigos" with the head coach Christophe Pauly. After finishing the group phase as group leader, the team persevered through challenging conditions to secure a commendable 6th place in the knockout stage.

Studer games 2023

On a sunny Friday afternoon in 2023, the eagerly awaited Studer Games unfolded. The Studer group engaged a series of lively and thrilling small games. In the end Elena and Max emerged as the champions, their hearts filled with excitement for the forthcoming games they're eager to organize.

Poster Prize – PSRC-10

At the 10th Pacific Symposium on Radical Chemistry (PSRC-10) held in Kyoto, Till Drennhaus received the Poster Prize in recognition of his outstanding presentation titled “Enantioselective Copper-Catalyzed FUKUYAMA Indole Synthesis from 2-Vinylphenyl Isocyanides”. Poster Prize – FoChIn 2023

With the title “Formal (3+2)-Cycloaddition of Bicyclo[1.1.0]butanes with Ketenes” Niklas Radhoff presented his recent publication (10.1002/anie.202304771) and won the Poster Prize at the 11th Edition of the FoChIn (Forschung der Chemischen Industrie) in Münster.

In this year's Chem Cup, the Studer working group participated as usual in berry jerseys as FC AS69 in a highly competitive event. We are delighted to announce that we clinched the sixth position in our group. This result fills us with high hopes and anticipation for the upcoming year.

The JCF Münster and Evonik awarded Constantin Stuckhardt with the "Evonik Preis 2022" for his outstanding performance during the doctoral theses. His contribution to photoclick reaction of acylsilanes on indoles was recently published in Angewandte Chemie.

Graduation Ceremony

Florian Clausen, Eva Kran und Shubhadip Mallick finished their doctorate and were awarded with the doctoral degree in the graduation ceremony of the faculty of chemistry and pharmacy at the end of October. On the next day all three received the Ellen-Baier-Award.

The German Research Foundation (DFG) approves new international research training group (IRTG) between the University of Münster and Nagoya. "Leopoldina" Academy

The National Academy of Sciences, “Leopoldina”, recently appointed Prof. Armino Studer as a new member. In doing so, the Academy acknowledges his outstanding scientific achievements. “For me, it is a very special accolade to be part of the oldest society of scientific and medical scholars in German-speaking countries,” says Armido Studer.

Reaxys PhD Prize 2020

Boron Has More Surprises

Anup Bhunia just published his article "Boron has more surprises" in the journal Chem. In his article he convincingly highlights the versatile reactivity of boron compounds towards radicals and underlines the potential of these reaction in modern organic chemistry. Great article, Anup! Congrats!

Graduation Ceremony

On Friday January 31st Henning Klaasen received his PhD during the graduation ceremony in the castle of Münster. On the next day, Florian Friese presented him the Ellen-Baier-Award of the Studer group as part of the promotion party. The whole groups congratulates him to his good performance.

MSc Prize 2019

Together with two other Master’s graduates Stefanie Plöger received an award for her outstanding Master thesis “Development of Novel Reactions via Radical Functional Group Migration“. A representative of Thescon (Coesfeld) presented the prize at the ceremonial awarding of the master's certificates at the Department of Chemistry and Pharmacy.

ChemCup 2019

Also, this year the Studer Group participated in the soccer tournament “ChemCup” of the University of Münster. In a strong competition the Studer team were able to reach the 6th place.

Canoeing Trip 2019

On a sunny day in August the Studer group went for a canoeing trip enjoying the beautiful weather in the middle of the nature. After a five-hour trip on the river Ems from Telgte to Handorf a joined BBQ was organized to end the day in a relaxed atmosphere.

Pedler Award 2019

Prof. Armido Studer is this year's winner of the Pedler Award of the Royal Society of Chemistry for his "outstanding contribution to method development in the field of radical chemistry". The award commemorates the chemist Alexander Pedler and is awarded annually for important scientific contributions in organic chemistry to internationally established researchers.
