Gerhard Erker joined the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster in 1990. Currently (2021) he is a Senior Professor at the Organisch-Chemisches Institut of the WWU. Professor Erker’s research interests are in the fields of Organometallic Chemistry and Catalysis. He has a high actual interest in main group element chemistry. This is especially centered around the element boron and includes active research in frustrated Lewis pair chemistry, 1,1-carbo- and 1,1-hydroboration reactions and the chemistry of boron containing π-system.
