Our counselling policy
The Student Advice and Counselling Centre (ZSB) provides open-ended, client-oriented advice and counselling: We focus on your concerns, needs and objectives in our consultation sessions. In confidential meetings, we help you gain clarity of the problem at hand.
The goal of our counselling services is to strengthen those seeking advice with the self-confidence and motivation to tap their resources and empower them to act and make decisions on their own. There is no ideal process by which success is guaranteed. We focus instead on the person seeking advice and their very individual situation. On the path to reaching a specific, well-considered decision or solution, we provide reliable information on study-related topics and suggest non-judgmental points for self-reflection. Through our counselling, we work to strengthen the self-competence of our clients; in other words, we do not relieve anyone from making a decision, but rather provide them with support to make it on their own.
We view counselling from a humanistic point of view. We believe that every individual with their specific experience and characteristics already holds the key to solving their problems. Our task is to help them discover where the key to these solutions lies.
Our quality standards are based on the counselling policy of the Association for Information, Counselling and Therapy at Universities (GIBeT)
