Individual Psychological Counselling

We offer confidential and free psychological counselling sessions to students and doctoral candidates enrolled at the University of Münster.

In the initial consultation, our primary goal is to clarify your specific concern or issue. Often, this involves addressing a current problem or challenge you are facing. We support you in gaining a deeper understanding of the problems at hand, collaboratively develop step-by-step solutions and discuss how to implement these solutions in your daily life.

Possible topics for counselling with us include issues related to your studies or other personal difficulties, such as:

  • learning and working difficulties
  • exam preparation and test anxiety
  • decision-making conflicts
  • academic motivation
  • stress symptoms
  • self-esteem issues
  • difficulties connecting with others
  • fears and anxiety
  • depressive moods
  • addiction problems
  • eating disorders
  • worries about friends, relatives or fellow students
  • experiences of discrimination
  • distress and trauma related to sexual violence

Appointments

Individual Psychological Counselling takes place in person on site and only by prior appointment. Appointments can be arranged during the regular consultation hours and virtual office hours, through the telephone advisory service or by using our contact form.

Note that the waiting time can vary greatly depending on the semester phase. Should you no longer wish to attend a scheduled appointment for psychological counselling, please inform us.

A note on formalities:

According to the law, counselling can only take place if you consent to the collection and processing of your personal data. More information can be found in the FAQ under the question "How does the ZSB handle the topics of confidentiality and data protection?"
