Georg Dehio – Handbuch der deutschen Kunstdenkmäler Nordrhein-Westfalen II: Westfalen

  • About the Project

Founded over a hundred years ago by Georg Dehio, the “Handbuch der Deutschen Kunstdenkmäler” (Handbook of German Art Monuments) remains a reliable guide to the landscape of monuments to this day. It is published by the Dehio Association and the Association for State Monument Preservation. The new edition of the Westphalia volume is the result of a collaboration between the IStG and the LWL Office for Monument Preservation in Westphalia. The volume, last published in 1969, was thoroughly revised between 2005 and 2011 to reflect the latest research in architecture, fine arts, and history. The city texts were supplemented with historical introductions to each city, while numerous location maps as well as overviews and detailed maps in colour enable quick orientation.
