Differentiation of the physical self-concept in childhood

New findings on the differentiation of the physical self-concept in childhood

Within the framework of a third-party funded project over three measurement full stops, two new publications on the differentiation of the physical self-concept in childhood were produced at the Department of Sport Psychology. Lena Henning, Maike Tietjens and Dennis Dreiskämper were able to show that the physical self-concept can be differentiated into competence and affect components and that these are related to physical activity. On the other hand, it was found that a realistic assessment of one's own abilities compared to under- and overestimation is associated with higher physical activity. The papers are published in the journals Psychology of Sport and Exercise and Sport, Exercise, and Performance Psychology.
