Congratulations to Theresa Viefhaus
The Graduate School Practices of Literature warmly congratulates Theresa Viefhaus on successfully passing her doctoral defense and completing her PhD in Romance Studies.
In her dissertation entitled “Staging ‘Counter-Memories’ – Marginalised Perspectives on the Spanish Civil War and the Francoist Dictatorship in the Theater of the Grandchildren's Generation,” Theresa Viefhaus explores how contemporary Spanish theatre renegotiates memories of the Civil War and the Franco dictatorship. At the center of her work are so-called “counter-memories,” which bring marginalized perspectives to light and contribute to a critical engagement with historical narratives.
Her research was supported by a doctoral scholarship from the Konrad Adenauer Foundation. In addition, she was actively involved in teaching and academic self-governance.
The Graduate School is delighted to have supported such an outstanding early career researcher and wishes Theresa Viefhaus all the best for her future academic and professional career.
