The group does research in nuclear, particle and astroparticle physics. The main projects are the KATRIN experiment at KIT to determine the neutrino mass and the search for dark matter with the XENON experiment at the LNGS underground laboratory. Further projects take place within the SPARC-Collaboration at GSI/FAIR : Detector development for the SpecTrap experiment and for laser spectroscopy experiments at the storage rings ESR and CRYRING. The research of the group is funded by the German Federal Ministery for Education and Research (BMBF), by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) and by the University of Münster. Further funding is provided by the Helmholtz Alliance for Astroparticle Physics (HAP), which is an instrument of the Initiative and Networking Fund of the Helmholtz Association and from the research and development program from GSI.
