Linux

The integration of Linux into the NWZ domain is tested for OpenSuSe from version 13.2 up to the current version. All solutions presented here were developed by different NWZ administrators of the departments and made available to the IVV general unit.  If you find bugs or have developed solutions for other distributions, please contact Oliver Rubner, ho coordinates the Linux integration.

To integrate a Linux computer into the NWZ domain, the following preparatory step is required (this is identical to the Procedure under Windows):

Enter PCs in NWZ (pre-staging)

Now install a Linux operating system. Note that at the moment only OpenSuSe is tested. Scripts exist for this distribution and Ubuntu which perform all settings automatically. For all other systems, you will find a description of the basic procedure  below but may have to make adjustments.

OpenSuSe Leap from Version 15.0

Copy the following script to your computer, run it and answer the corresponding questions.

SuSe-Installation Script

Then restart the computer and you should be able to log in directly.

Ubuntu from Version 14.04

Copy the following script to your computer, run it and answer the corresponding questions.

Ubuntu-Installation Script

Then restart the computer and you should be able to log in directly.

CentOS 7 and CentOS 8

At the moment there is no installation script for CentOS but you can use these step-to-step instructions:

Centos7

Centos8

Manual Configuration

The settings that must be made under SuSe are described in the following slides. In principle, with a few adjustments, they should also work with other distributions.
