Concerts with top young musicians in the region

Many of the approximately 500 students of the Münster University of Music, who come from more than 20 countries, have already won prizes in international competitions or are members of renowned ensembles and orchestras, perform in clubs and at festivals due to their artistic excellence. - They are NEW STARS and are to shine over the entire Münsterland region in the future!

To this end, the Münster University of Music, with the support of regional cultural funding from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, has been realizing the concert series NEUE STERNE FÜR DAS MÜNSTERLAND (NEW STARS FOR THE MUNSTERLAND) since 2020, which brings student bands and ensembles with pop and classical music to the cities and towns of the Münsterland region.

The content and organization of all performances are planned and carried out together with local partners. The concerts can be supplemented by workshops, student talks and other mediation formats. Novel forms of presentation and special venues, possibly including rehearsal stays of several days by ensembles in cultural venues in the Münsterland region, make the music students role models for the region's young musical talent.

Through the cultural transfer between the University of Music and the Münsterland region, a new and long-term added value is gained "in the area".

Season 2023

In the 2023 season, the artistic spectrum of our NEUE STERNE ranges from the most diverse varieties of pop (singer/songwriter, alternative, world music) to crossover projects and the broad field of classical music with interpretations of works by the best-known classical composers in two- to four-piece ensembles. From a capella singing to classical orchestral instruments to pure percussion, everything is represented - fresh and likeable, independent and virtuosic!
