Dekanat
Alongside the Faculty Council, the Dean's Office is one of the two governing bodies of the Department. The Dean is elected by the Faculty Council from among the professors. The Dean heads the Department and represents it within the University. In particular, the Dean chairs the Faculty Council and serves as its executive body. The Dean's responsibilities include implementing the decisions of the Faculty Council and managing the ongoing administrative affairs of the Department. Under the Higher Education Act of North Rhine-Westphalia, the Dean is also responsible for ensuring the completeness of the teaching provision, for the organisation of studies and examinations, and for decisions on the allocation of budgetary funds. The Vice Dean for Financial Affairs and the Vice Dean for Studies support the Dean in these duties; the Dean's Office is assisted by additional staff.
The Dean's Office also handles and organises habilitation and appointment procedures. Doctoral procedures are administered by the Examination Office.
