5. John von Neumann Lecture: Prof. Dr. Simon Brendle ( Stanford University): Minimalflächen in der 3-Sphaere und die Lawson-Vermutung

Thursday, 12.12.2013 16:30 im Raum M5

Mathematik und Informatik

In 1956, Alexandrov proved that any embedded hypersurface in R^n with constant mean curvature is a round sphere. In this lecture, I will discuss various uniqueness results for minimal and constant mean constant curvature surfaces in curved manifolds. In particular, I will describe some recent results concerning minimal surfaces in the three-dimensional sphere and the solution of Lawson's conjecture.
