Research Trip to Philadelphia

Our colleague and PhD student Andreas Oberdorf looks back on two successful weeks at the Horner Library of the German Society of Pennsylvania. His research visit was funded by a short-term fellowship of the German Historical Institute, Washington DC. The main focus was put on the research and analysis of primary sources and secondary literature concerning Catholic life and education in Pennsylvania in the 18th and early 19th centuries. Furthermore he visited the Ryan Memorial Library at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary (Wynnewood) and the Prince Gallitzin Chapel House (Loretto). The stay was concluded by a public lecture on Demetrius Augustine Gallitzin: His Life and Learning in Germany and America held at St. Francis University (Loretto).
