Success for Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität (WWU) Münster in the excellence initiative: In their preliminary decision, the German Research Foundation (DFG) and the German Council of Science and Humanities (WR) have assessed two of WWU's eight draft proposals as promising.

The teams of scientists involved are now asked to submit detailed full proposals by 1 September 2011. The final decision will be taken in June 2012 – the funding period for the years 2012 to 2017 will start on 1 November 2012. In the founding line clusters of excellence, WWU has been successful with the draft proposal "Cells in Motion (CiM) – Imaging to Understand Cellular Behaviour in Organisms". CiM was elected as one of 27 excellence cluster initiatives (1 of 4 in life sciences) by the scientific reviewers to write a full proposal.

"This is a good result," stressed WWU's Rector Professor Ursula Nelles. "We are convinced that this intermediate achievement will turn into a lasting success."
Cells in Motion (CiM) Excellence Cluster Initiative is driven by the ‘Cells in Motion Interfaculty Center’.
