Am Institut für Pharmazeutische und Medizinische Chemie der Universität Münster ist zum Wintersemester 2027/2028 eine

W3-Professur für Pharmazeutische und Medizinische Chemie

zu besetzen.

Die zukünftige Stelleninhaberin/Der zukünftige Stelleninhaber hat das Fach Pharmazeutische und Medizinische Chemie in Forschung und Lehre in ganzer Breite gemäß Approbationsordnung für Apotheker (AAppO) zu vertreten. Zudem soll die zukünftige Stelleninhaberin/der zukünftige Stelleninhaber ein exzellentes Forschungsprofil mit internationaler Sichtbarkeit auf dem Gebiet der Pharmazeutischen und Medizinischen Chemie vorweisen und sich mit der experimentellen Entwicklung neuer Wirkstoffe beschäftigen. Mögliche Forschungsschwerpunkte sind zum Beispiel die Identifizierung, Entwicklung und Charakterisierung neuer Wirkstoffe, ihrer Wirkmechanismen sowie biologischen Targets.

Es wird die Bereitschaft zur Kooperation mit den am Ort tätigen Arbeitsgruppen innerhalb des PharmaCampus, des Fachbereichs Chemie und Pharmazie, weiterer naturwissenschaftlicher Fachbereiche sowie der medizinischen Fakultät vorausgesetzt. Hierbei sollen die am Standort vorhandenen Expertisen im Bereich der Wirkstoffforschung thematisch und methodisch sinnvoll erweitert werden. Weiterhin wird die Bereitschaft zur aktiven Zusammenarbeit mit den Forschungsschwerpunkten des Fachbereichs Chemie und Pharmazie, insbesondere dem GRK 2515 (Chemische Biologie von Ionenkanälen, Chembion) sowie möglicher Folgeinitiativen, dem SFB 1450 (Darstellung organspezifischer Entzündung durch multiskalige Bildgebung, inSight), dem SFB 1459 (Intelligente Materie: Von responsiven zu adaptiven Nanosystemen) und den interdisziplinären Forschungszentren (ZMBE, SoN, MIC) vorausgesetzt. Zu den Aufgaben in der Lehre gehört die aktive Beteiligung am Staatsexamensstudiengang Pharmazie gemäß Approbationsordnung für Apotheker (AAppO), den Masterstudiengängen des Fachbereichs Chemie und Pharmazie und der Graduiertenausbildung.

Voraussetzungen für die Einstellung sind ein abgeschlossenes Hochschulstudium der Pharmazie oder angrenzender Fächer, eine einschlägige Promotion sowie wissenschaftliche Leistungen auf dem Gebiet der experimentellen Pharmazeutischen und Medizinischen Chemie, die im Rahmen einer Juniorprofessur, einer Habilitation oder einer Tätigkeit als wissenschaftliche*r Mitarbeiter*in an einer Hochschule oder außeruniversitären Einrichtung oder im Rahmen einer wissenschaftlichen Tätigkeit in Wirtschaft, Verwaltung oder in einem anderen gesellschaftlichen Bereich im In- und Ausland erbracht worden sind.

Weiterhin wird Erfahrung in der Ausbildung von Studierenden der Pharmazie auf dem Gebiet der Pharmazeutischen und Medizinischen Chemie erwartet. Es wird vorausgesetzt, dass nach einer angemessenen Übergangszeit einschlägige Lehrveranstaltungen in deutscher Sprache abgehalten werden. Weiterhin sollen sich die Bewerber*innen an der Durchführung und Weiterentwicklung des PharMSchool-Projekts beteiligen. Eine Mitwirkung in der akademischen Selbstverwaltung wird erwartet.

The Institute of Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Münster seeks to fill the following position, scheduled to commence in the winter semester 2027/2028:

Professorship (W3-level) in “Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry”

The prospective appointee shall be responsible for the full scope of research and teaching activities in the subject of pharmaceutical and medicinal chemistry in accordance with the Approbation Regulations for Pharmacists (AAppO). The candidate should possess an excellent research profile with international visibility in the field of pharmaceutical and medicinal chemistry and engage in the experimental development of new active substances. The candidate’s research focus could include, for example, identifying, developing, and characterising new active substances, their effect mechanisms and their biological targets.

The candidate will be encouraged to cooperate with the working groups at the PharmaCampus, as well as with the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy, other faculties of the natural sciences and medicine at the University of Münster. The candidate should augment the existing expertise in the field of active-substance research at the Institute in a thematically and methodically complementary manner. The candidate should also be willing to actively collaborate in focal research activities conducted by the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy, in particular those in GRK 2515 (Chemical Biology of Ion Channels, ChemBion) as well as possible subsequent programmes, CRC 1450 (Multiscale Imaging of Organ-Specific Inflammation, inSight), CRC 1459 (Intelligent Matter: From Responsive to Adaptive Nanosystems), and the interdisciplinary research centres (ZMBE, SoN, MIC). The candidate’s teaching obligations include active participation in the state examination programme “Pharmacy” in accordance with the Approbation Regulations for Pharmacists (AAppO), the master’s degree programmes offered by the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy and graduate training programmes.

To be considered for this position, the candidate should hold a university degree in pharmacy or related subjects in an adjacent field, a subject-relevant doctoral degree, and additional academic achievements in experimental pharmaceutical and medicinal chemistry made as a Juniorprofessor (assistant professor), in a Habilitation (postdoctoral qualification), as a member of the academic staff of a university or non-university research institute, or in a research position in business, industry, administration or other relevant field in Germany or abroad.

We expect the candidate to have experience teaching pharmaceutical and medicinal chemistry to students of pharmacy. After an adequate transition period, the candidate will be required to teach the relevant courses in German. Furthermore, the candidate should actively participate in managing and developing the PharMSchool project. We expect the candidate to independently conduct academic administrative duties.
