University calls for ‘March for Science’ on 9 May
The University of Münster invites all members of the university as well as interested citizens to the ‘March for Science’. The motto of this year's event is ‘Science for social cohesion’. The meeting point is on 9 May (Friday) at 11.45 a.m. between the two Kavaliershäuschen (Schlossplatz 6 and Schlossplatz 1). From there, the route leads across the Domplatz to the Lambertikirche. A concluding panel discussion with representatives of the City of Münster, academia and the AStA (General Students' Committee) will begin there at 12.45 p.m.
'In times of active social division, commitment to social solidarity is more important than ever: between young and old, between rich and poor or between the global North and South. Social cohesion is based on mutual trust and solidarity. Only on this basis can we overcome the diverse challenges of the future together,’ emphasises Prof. Dr Michael Quante, Vice-Rector for Internationalization, Knowledge Transfer and Sustainability at the University of Münster. Strong social cohesion promotes the well-being of all and creates a respectful coexistence. The university wants to strengthen this cohesion through research and teaching.
