We are delighted to invite you to the Day of Teaching 2025, an all-day, in-person event taking place on Monday, 27 October 2025. We look forward to engaging in an exchange on this year’s theme: Teaching(s) of the future: Learning and teaching together through research.
The aim of TdL25 is to deepen the discourse around innovative and future-oriented teaching and learning concepts. Together, we hope to generate momentum for the continued development of university teaching. At the heart of this is the question of how research-based learning can strengthen academic judgement, foster reflective competencies, and help students actively engage with – and make sense of – knowledge production processes in context.
The event will take place in person, at the Schloss and the Botanicum – House of Studies. Two keynote lectures (beginning at 10:00 and 15:30) will frame the day’s theme. The programme will largely centre around interactive exchange in parallel workshops, designed to encourage discussion in small groups (up to 30 participants). These workshops will be based on prepared inputs and moderated discussions. Our aim is to showcase good practice, address challenges openly, and develop new perspectives for learning and teaching. The outcomes will inform the teaching support and advisory services offered by the Centre for Teaching in Higher Education.
We warmly invite teaching staff, students, and all those involved in teaching and learning to contribute their experiences, perspectives, and expertise to the workshops. We are especially interested in contributions developed jointly by students and teachers. Please note that we are not looking for formal academic presentations, but rather for short, engaging inputs that actively encourage dialogue and exchange. We would be happy to discuss the format and content of your contribution with you in advance to ensure it aligns well with the overall concept of the event.
Four thematic areas
You may submit contributions related to one of the following four thematic areas
- Study Programme Perspective – Integrating research-based learning into teaching: Didactic concepts, practical implementation, institutional frameworks, and how different modules within a degree programme interact.
- Teaching Perspective – Supporting and collaborating in the research process: Understanding roles, mentoring, peer learning, and feedback cultures.
- Study Progression Perspective – Research-based learning at different stages of study: From the initial phase of study to final projects
- Outcome Perspective – Competence development through research-based learning: Methodological skills, ability to reflect, ethical awareness, sense of agency, etc.
