Job advertisement: Honorary staff member for sports education program in Altenberge

Well-developed motor skills (endurance, strength, speed, coordination, and agility) and skills (object control and locomotion), as well as realistic self-assessment, are not only important prerequisites for children to learn new athletic movements, but also for successfully "mastering" everyday life. This fact is now undisputed and scientifically proven repeatedly. At the same time, however, more and more children and adolescents are growing up with a lack of movement experience. It is in this context that the joint project of the Willibald Gebhardt Institute (WGI) and the University of Münster – Institute of Sports Science addresses.

The Willibald Gebhardt Institute is seeking to fill a position as a 1-2 part-time honorary staff member (with or without a bachelor's degree) for a school support program at an elementary school in Altenberge, starting September 8, 2025, until July 31, 2026, with a weekly working time of approximately two 3-4 hour shifts.

Tasks:
The advertised position involves the independent implementation of a sports-oriented support program for children at a primary school in Altenberge. The goal is to support the motor, social, and emotional development of students through regular physical activity opportunities.

Four groups of 15 children each will be supervised:

  • One support group (with increased support needs)
  • One advanced group (with special movement potential)
Group sessions will take place on one or two different days of the week.

Your responsibilities in detail:
  • Planning, organizing, and conducting sports-educational exercise sessions for both groups
  • Collaboration with school contacts
  • Documentation and, if necessary, evaluation of the support program

Requirements:
  • Instructor C license for recreational sports or comparable qualification in sports support instruction
  • Enjoyment of working with children
  • Independent and responsible working style
  • Organizational skills and reliability
  • Communication skills and pedagogical skills

Payment:
The position is remunerated at €16 per hour. The weekly working hours are approximately 3–4 hours and depend on the specific elementary school timetable.
