On May 27, 2026, an online transfer workshop was held as part of the project “Political Activism and Athlete Participation in Elite Sports,” featuring Prof. Dr. Henk Erik Meier and Dr. Mara Konjer (Department of Social Sciences). The project’s findings were presented during a two-hour online transfer workshop. Tabea Kemme (former professional soccer player, TV expert), Mareike Miller (DOSB and Athletes Germany Executive Committee, Paralympic champion), and Dr. Kristin Behrens (Executive Board Member of the German Athletics Association) participated in the subsequent panel discussion. They provided fascinating insights into their own experiences and offered recommendations for action for athletes and federations. HERE you find the project page.

On May 27, 2026, at 6 p.m., we will host an online transfer workshop to mark the conclusion of the project.
Together with Olympic soccer champion and TV expert Tabea Kemme, Mareike Miller (Paralympic wheelchair basketball champion and member of the executive board of Athleten Deutschland e.V. and the German Olympic Sports Confederation), and Dr. Kristin Behrens (board member of the German Athletics Association), we will discuss the possibilities and limitations of political activism in sports in Germany. We will also present our key research findings.
