IT Committee (discontinued with the enactment of IT Governance of 12 May 2023)

The committees responsible for making IT decisions at the University of Münster are: 1. Conference of IT heads 2. IT Steering Committee 3. IT Committee. The first two groups are mainly comprised of IT experts, most of whom are researchers from across the University who have something to do with IT. The IT Committee, on the other hand, is the academic counterpart of the first two, not only comprised of IT experts but also academics who consult the University as IT users on the further development of data processing and related topics. Although the committee seldom passes controversial resolutions (which speaks for the quality of the participating experts), one of its central tasks is to broadly disseminate information, usually by means of its extensive reporting efforts. In addition, the IT Committee occasionally proposes measures, the technical implementation of which is managed by the IT Steering Committee and the IT Support Units. The current topics of discussion include digitalisation, IT security and the pragmatic implementation of the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
