Please clarify any questions you may have before submitting your dissertation!

Before submitting your dissertation in person, we recommend making an appointment to avoid waiting times. Appointments can be made via the digital appointment system, by telephone or by email. Please note the following points, as incorrect submission may lead to a delay

  • All dissertations printed in copy shop need to contain the promotion data ("date of oral examination" and where applicable "date of promotion"). These data can be added by hand if necessary.
  • Except for faculties 3 and 5–9, all dissertations printed in copy shop must contain a curriculum vitae.
  • All copy shop copies must be identical. Corrected examination copies may not be submitted.
  • Copy shop copies must be bound with simple adhesive binding (or as high-quality hardcover); ring binding is not permitted!
  • Digital dissertations are submitted via Email. Only after the submission of the digital version, the dissertations made in copy shop can be submitted after agreement. Because of data protection policy the digital version may not include a CV and original signatures. If you have questions please contact the colleagues of Service Point for Publications.
  • Faculty of Medicine: Please note all specifications of the faculty and the doctoral regulations! Every printed version needs a handwritten and signed "Declaration of Academic integrity". The wording of the Declaration of Academic integrity may not differ from the template. Please also ensure that the summary contains all the necessary information and does not exceed one A4 page in length.
  • Faculties of natural sciences, medicine and educational science: In addition to your copy shop dissertations you will have to hand in the "Form for the supervisor's declaration on publication after completion of the doctorate" (in German "Vordruck für Erklärungen der Betreuerin/des Betreuers zur Veröffentlichung nach erfolgter Promotion"). If you have already published part(s) of your thesis, your supervisor will need to provide both signatures (and the bibliographic data). If you have not published parts of your thesis before, your supervisor only needs to provide one signature. For contactless submission, please put the form in the parcel so we can send it together with our confirmation of submission to the doctorate examination office.
  • If you choose contactless submission for your thesis, please also add a note with your e-mail address so we can confirm receipt.
  • We will gladly forward the confirmation of submission and any other necessary documents from the department to the doctorate examination office via internal mail.
