Registrations and deregistrations
Registration
Instructions for registration and much more in QISPOS can be found here.
Information on registration in the new campus management system SAP SLcM can be found here.
The central electronic registration and deregistration phase (via QISPOS or SAP SLcM) as well as the module final examinations organised by the Examinations Office I can be found in the category Deadlines & Dates.
Registrations in the electronic registration systems also include registration for courses.
Please note, however, that there are participant restrictions for individual courses in various subjects and therefore separate admission procedures (via LSF or notice boards). Please pay attention to the information in the annotated course catalogues for the subjects and the corresponding notices!
After participating in the LSF selection process or other selection processes, separate registration via QISPOS or SAP SLcM is required. If you still have registered courses from previous semesters listed in QISPOS or SAP SLcM, but have not passed or attended them, the courses must still be recorded by the lecturers during the current registration phase. Only then is it possible to re-register electronically for the respective examination number. Electronic registration is a prerequisite for participation in all study and examination achievements.
Information on possible attempts to improve grades can be found in the notes on the registration procedure, for the Bachelor's degree here and for the Master's degree here.
Deregistrations and withdrawals
Only during the electronic registration period can students register for or withdraw from examination-related courses in QISPOS or SAP SLcM without giving reasons. The registration and withdrawal periods will be announced centrally.
Withdrawals
The examination regulations of the University of Münster state that students may withdraw from an examination for which they have registered for a “valid reason” if, after the expiry of the registration and deregistration period, it turns out that the student is unable to take the corresponding examination. The consequence of such a withdrawel for “valid reeason” is that the student is treated as if he/she had not registered for the examination in question. If, on the other hand, there is no “valid reason” for the withdrawal, the examination performance in question is deemed to be “insufficient” (5.0).
In order to ensure equal treatment of all students, the "valid reasons" that can be considered for withdrawal are listed below and their handling is explained.
"Valid reasons" for withdrawing from an examination are in particular:
- Incapacity to take examinations due to illness (including health impairments during pregnancy).
- Care or support of the spouse, the registered partner or a relative in a straight line (children, parents) or first-degree in-law, if they are in need of care or support.
- Claiming of protection periods according to §§ 3, 4, 6 and 8 of the Maternity Protection Act and of periods of the Federal Child-Raising Benefit Act on parental leave
- Death of close relatives
- Change of degree programme / change of subject
- Change of place of study
- Overlapping examination dates (less than 2 hours break between two exams)
- Reasons that can be summarised under the generic term "force majeure" (e.g. unpredicted weather conditions, prolonged traffic jam after accident, etc.)
An example of an invalid reason for withdrawing from an examination is inadequate preparation or a student's desire to take the exam in a future semester, which occurred after the registration and withdrawal deadline.
Withdrawal for "valid reason" can only be recognised if it is "immediately" (this means "without culpable hesitation", i.e. as soon as possible)
a) notified and
b) made credible at the responsible examination office. In the case of incapacity to take examinations due to illness, the credible evidence must be submitted in the form of a medical certificate with signature as well as the deregistration form. The Examination Office has no access to a certificate of incapacity for work sent electronically to the health insurance company. Please ask your doctor to issue a certificate with a signature and stamp. You can, however, send a scanned copy to the Examinations Office.
The notification of the inability to take the examination is only made without culpable hesitation if the certificate with the deregistration form is either scanned and sent by email to the responsible administrative department, handed in by an authorised representative or sent by post (date of postmark) at the latest on the day after the default. A later submission or a later sending of the certificate must have been indicated by telephone. Otherwise, a later submission of certificates without prior telephone notice is only possible with proof that the delay was not culpable (longer hospital stay with unconsciousness, etc.). In your own interest, please ensure that the postmark is legible!
The certificate must have been issued on the day of the examination at the latest, with justified proof a maximum of one day after the missed examination. Certificates that subsequently show an inability to take an examination in the past cannot be recognised as a matter of principle.
Please note that the withdrawal is binding and cannot be subsequently corrected or withdrawn.
Further information on withdrawal deadlines can be found in the Notes & Dates section.
