The last decades have seen an enormous success of the so-called Standard Model of Particle Physics. And yet, we know very well that it does not provide us with the ultimate answer about the nature of the microcosm as too many questions remain unanswered. New phenomena are expected to manifest themselves at the TeV scale, an energy range that is now accessible after the long awaited turn-on of the Large Hadron Collider LHC. I will highlight the rich discovery potential of the LHC experiments and then also discuss a complementary approach through precision measurements in lepton collisions at lower energies, namely B factories that investigate the matter-antimatter asymmetry which is crucial for our existence.
