Master and Bachelor Projects
We are looking for self‑motivated students at the University of Münster who would like to carry out a Bachelor’s or Master’s thesis with us.
Available projects
The projects fall into two main focus areas.
1. STM / STS studies including in‑situ growth of 2D materials
- Single‑atom defect investigations – how defects affect structural and electronic properties
- 2D heterostructures – atomic‑scale structural, electronic and optical characteristics
- Spatially resolved inelastic excitations (phonons, magnons) in moiré superlattices
- Electron dynamics within moiré structures
2. Instrumentation and method development
- Building and characterising a home‑made scanning tunnelling microscope (STM)
- Developing customised spectroscopy modes
- Implementing a light‑assisted STM set‑up and performing test measurements
- Automating and optimising laboratory processes

Postdoctoral and PhD‑Student Positions
We are constantly looking for enthusiastic, highly qualified young researchers to join our dynamic team.
At present we have no specific PhD‑student or post‑doctoral openings. Because the situation can change quickly, we keep an eye out for excellent candidates and invite you to get in touch.
