1st ZIN-Brown Bag Lecture: “Alternatives to Growth: Climax-Economics Based on Ecological Models?”
On Thursday, April 24, at 12:15 p.m., the ZIN brown bag lecture series 2025 will beging with a lecture by molecular biologist Prof. Dr. Christoph Schäfers on the topic of “Alternatives to growth: Climax-economy based on an ecological model?”.
At the beginning of his lecture, Prof. Dr. Schäfers will explain the tasks of the Fraunhofer Institute for Molecular Biology and Applied Ecology. The institute specializes in the environmental risk assessment of all types of chemicals. He will then focus on the sensitivity of populations as an essential variable in biodiversity and on climax economics, which he will discuss using the film “Learning from Nature: Climax-Ecology.” Finally, there will be time to discuss climax ecology and biodiversity.
The lecture will take place in JO 101 (Johannisstraße 1–4). No prior knowledge is required, and you are welcome to bring a small lunch with you!
Information about this and other dates for the ZIN-Brown Bag Lectures can also be found on the poster for the event series, on our Brown Bag Lectures website, and on LinkedIn (@Zentrum für Interdisziplinäre Nachhaltigkeitsforschung).
