Sustainability at lunchtime in the 4th “ZIN -Brotzeitkolloquium”

For already the fourth time, the successful lecture series “ZIN-Brotzeitkolloquium” will take place in the summer semester 2019. The speakers, who are ZIN-members or –junior scholars, will give five lectures on sustainability topics such as water protection, food waste or education for sustainable development and civic engagement for sustainability in Münster. In many cases, practice actors concerned with the implementation of sustainability in Münster enrich the scientific analyses through their input. Students from all disciplines and interested citizens are cordially invited to attend the lectures, which take place on five Thursdays from May to July at lunchtime. Previous knowledge is not necessary, a small lunch is welcome!

The lecture series will start on 9 May 2019 (in seminar room JO 101) with a lecture by Prof'in Cornelia Denz titled "Von Nachhaltigkeitsbewusstsein zu Nachhaltigkeitshandeln – Praxis der Bildung für Nachhaltige Entwicklung” (in English: “From sustainability awareness to sustainability action - practice of education for sustainable development"). In the second lecture (23 May 2019, seminar room JUR 2), members of the working Group “Arbeitskreis Gemeinschafts- und Nachhaltigkeitsforschung” will present their research results on the sustainability awareness and sustainable behaviour of citizens from Münster, knowledge workers and civil society initiatives. Afterwards there will be a discussion of the chances and problems of a sustainable urban development in Münster with members of the citizen movement “Münster nachhaltig”.
On 6 June, Prof. Tillmann Buttschardt will give a third lecture on the handling of waters in Münster. He examines the ecological requirements for local waters such as the Aasee, Ems-Kanal and Werse and explains which challenges urban planning has to master in this area. In the fourth lecture (27 June 2019, seminar room JUR 2), ZIN-junior scholar Tobias Gumbert turns to sustainable alternatives against food waste in Münster by presenting and evaluating different strategies for avoiding it. In addition, he talks about possibilities of engagement against food waste with co-initiators of the event "Feeding the 5000", which took place in Münster in 2017.
On the last date (11 July 2019, seminar room JUR 2) Prof'in Sabine Schlacke will conclude with a lecture about the European Energy Union and the German Climate Protection Act, focusing in particular on the opportunities of integrating climate and energy policy in Germany.
