Financial System and Financialization

In this thematic field, the Chair of International Relations and Sustainable Development investigates actors and structures of the global financial system. Concerning the structures, that in fact go far beyond the actual realm of the financial system, financialization is at the core of research efforts (DFG Nachwuchsnetzwerk). Here, it is investigated what impact financialization has on sustainability in the global Agrifood system, for instance, particularly concerning food security. Considering actors of the global financial system, the chair's team looks at the influence of the construction of sustainability. Furthermore, attention is drawn to the construction of the financial crisis as such and respective implications for political solutions.
