Bridge-Talks (In search of model structures for non-equilibrium systems):
Fundmentals and applications of classical dynamical

Hartmut Löwen: Classical dynamical density functional theory (DDFT) has been proven to be a vital and flexible modeling tool for non-equilibrium phenomena.
In this talk, I shall first propose dynamical density functional theory
and comment on its validity. Then various applications of DDFT will be
discussed. They include colloidal crystallization on imposed
crystallization seeds, colloidal flow driven through constrictions and
over barriers and DDFT for active systems. Finally, the relation to more
phenomenological phase-field-crystal (PFC) modelling will be discussed,
including recent results on active systems. A final example is bacterial
growth in colonies governed by mechano-sensing.
