The aim of this talk is to explain some of the tools that are necessary to prove that warped cones violate the coarse Baum-Connes conjecture. In the first part, I will introduce the notion of Markov kernel and explain a few basic facts concerning reversible Markov processes. In the second part I will explain how they are used to show that the Roe algebra of warped cones associated with strongly ergodic actions have an abundance of non-compact ghost projections.
Because of the Corona crisis, the lectures will be given as online lectures via zoom (or other video conference software). Please contact us by sending a message to our secretary Elke Enning, if you are interested to participate, so that we can send you an invitation for the lectures.
