I will explain the general mechanism for localization theorems in equivariant homotopy theory. I then explain how, in analogy to the case of usual equivariant topology, it applies to equivariant coarse homology theories. A central topic are the approximation of equivariant coarse homology by their Bredon-type versions. The special cases of algebraic and topological K-theory will be discussed in some detail.
