Recently Albers, Frauenfelder and Solomon [Comment. Math. Helv. 89, 929-936 (2014)] have shown that a certain product on Lagrangian Grassmannians of odd rank is a Gamma-structure in the sense of Hopf, that is the mapping degrees associated to this product do not vanish. From a topological point of view, compact Gamma-manifolds behave like H-spaces by a famous theorem of Hopf. In this talk we extend the investigation of Albers, Frauenfelder and Solomon to other symmetric spaces. This is joint work with B. Hanke.
