Mathematik und Informatik

The Stolz-Teichner program has conjectured an intimate link between generalized cohomology and supersymmetric field theories. To begin, I will explain the degree to which this project has come to fruition. To give intuition for the remaining open problems I will outline some computations in dimension zero, as these examples avoid notorious analytical difficulties that plague quantum field theory. However, in the presence of supersymmetry even these simple theories can be surprisingly interesting. One upshot I will discuss is a proof of the Chern-Gauss-Bonnet theorem that arises from analysis of the 0|2 sigma model.
